- 3 cups All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp Baking powder
- 1/2 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 cup Unsalted butter softened
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Buttermilk
- 2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup Strawberry jam for filling
- 400 g Cream cheese for frosting
- 3 cups Powdered sugar for frosting
- Fresh strawberries for decoration, to taste
Preparing the Batter
Gather all your ingredients. Ensuring everything is close at hand makes the process smoother.
Lightly beat the butter and sugar together.
Adding the eggs one at a time and beating well after each one is added.
Mix in vanilla extract.
Combine the dry ingredients. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a different bowl and mix them together using a whisk.
Alternate dry and wet ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with buttermilk, starting and ending with flour.
Baking the Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Make a cake pan liner out of parchment paper and grease the sides.
Pour the batter into the pans. Ensure it’s spread evenly.
Bake for 25-30 minutes. Or until you can cleanly stick a toothpick through the middle.
Let the cakes cool. First in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
