Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Taro peeled and grated
  • 1 cup Chickpeas drained
  • 1/4 cup Red onion finely diced
  • 2 Garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • To taste Salt
  • To taste Black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Bread crumbs
  • For frying Olive oil
  • 4 Whole wheat buns
  • As needed Lettuce leaves
  • As needed Tomato slices
  • As needed Avocado slices

Instructions
 

Preparing the Taro Mixture

  • Place the grated taro, chickpeas, red onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper in a food processor.
  • Blend or pulse until everything is well mixed but still has some chunks for texture.

Forming the Patties

  • Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and stir in bread crumbs until the mixture is firm enough to shape.
  • Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form them into patties.

Cooking the Patties

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.
  • Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Assembling the Burgers

  • Toast the whole wheat buns lightly.
  • Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, followed by the taro patty.
  • Top with tomato and avocado slices before covering with the top half of the bun.

Notes

  • Ensure the taro is well grated to avoid any large chunks that might affect the texture of your patties.
  • If the mixture is too wet, add a bit more bread crumbs to help it bind together.
