Equipment

  • Large frying pan
  • Baking dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • ½ tsp Red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 4 Italian bread rolls

Instructions

Preparing the Meat

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  • Form the mixture into patties—think of them as Italian-seasoned burger patties.

Cooking the Patties

  • Heat your frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties.
  • Cook each side for about 5-7 minutes or until they’re well-browned. No need to rush this; good things come to those who wait.

Assembling the Dish

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place the cooked patties in the baking dish. Pour the marinara sauce over them, ensuring they’re well-covered.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top.

Baking

  • Bake in an oven that is already hot for about 25 to 30 minutes with the foil over the baking dish.
  • For that irresistibly golden cheese top, remove the foil in the last 5 minutes of baking.

Serving

  • Warm the Italian bread rolls.
  • Place each patty on a roll, and voilà, your hot dago is ready to be devoured.
