Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • A good appetite (essential but often overlooked!)

Ingredients

  • ½ cup 1 stick Unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves Garlic finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • ½ cup Tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup Water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Melt the Butter

  • First, melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat. This is the foundation of your sauce, so make sure it’s melted to perfection.

Saute the Garlic

  • Add the finely minced garlic to the melted butter. Sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn it; garlic turns bitter faster than a jilted lover.

Add the Dry Ingredients

  • Whisk in the onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. This blend of spices is the secret handshake of the Hook and Reel sauce recipe.

The Wet Ingredients

  • Stir in the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and tomato sauce. Then, slowly add the water to reach the desired consistency.

Simmer

  • Stir the sauce every once in a while as it cooks for about 15 to 20 minutes. This is where the magic happens, and the flavors get to know each other.

Season

  • Last, add salt and pepper to taste to finish. Remember, the seasoning is what ties the whole dish together, so don’t skip this step.
