Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Pie dish (9-inch)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/2 cups Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 Eggs beaten
  • 1/2 cup Evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 9-inch Pie crust (unbaked)

Instructions

Prepare Your Ingredients

  • First things first, let’s get everything ready to go into the oven.
  • Mix the wet ingredients. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, beaten eggs, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract.
  • Blend the dry ingredients. In another bowl, mix the sugar and cocoa powder.

Combine and Fill

  • Now, bring together the heart and soul of your pie.
  • Mix everything together. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture while whisking continuously to avoid any lumps.
  • Pour into crust. Put the mix into the pie crust that hasn’t been baked yet.

Bake to Perfection

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the pie. Place the pie in the oven and bake for 35 minutes. Check if it’s done by inserting a knife near the center; it should come out mostly clean.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, pre-bake your pie shell for about 10 minutes before adding the filling.
  • Allow the pie to cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. It sets as it cools, giving you perfect slices.
