Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Small saucepan
  • Basting brush
  • Tongs
  • Wire rack

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • To make cleanup easier, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet. This helps the wings cook evenly.

Step 2: Prepare the Wings

  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  • Make sure each wing is well coated.
  • Note: Tossing the wings in olive oil helps them get crispy in the oven.

Step 3: Bake the Wings

  • Arrange the wings in one layer on the wire rack.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Warning: Be careful when flipping the wings to avoid any hot oil splashes.

Step 4: Make the BBQ Sauce

  • While the wings are baking, prepare the BBQ sauce.
  • In a small saucepan, combine BBQ sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Heat over medium heat until the sauce is well combined and slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Fact: Adding honey to the BBQ sauce not only sweetens it but also helps the sauce stick better to the wings.

Step 5: Coat the Wings

  • After 30 minutes of baking, remove the wings from the oven.
  • Using a basting brush, generously coat the wings with the BBQ sauce.
  • Bake the wings for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Note: Basting the wings in BBQ sauce twice ensures they are extra sticky and flavorful.

Step 6: Final Touch

  • Once the wings are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side for dipping.
  • Warning: Allow the wings to cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burns from the hot sauce.
