- 4 pieces Chicken breasts
- ¼ cup Cherry blossom jam
- 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Honey
- 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger minced
- 2 Garlic cloves minced
- 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
- Salt to taste
- Ground black pepper to taste
- 2 finely chopped Spring onions for garnish
- 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds for garnish
Making the Cherry Blossom Glaze
In a mixing bowl, whisk together cherry blossom jam, soy sauce, honey, minced ginger, and minced garlic until well combined.
Put the sesame oil in a big skillet and heat it over medium-low heat.
Once hot, add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Glazing and Cooking
Pour the cherry blossom glaze over the chicken in the skillet.
Make the heat low and put the lid on the skillet. Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
Occasionally, spoon the glaze over the chicken to ensure it’s evenly coated.
Garnishing and Serving
Put the chicken on a serving platter after it’s done cooking.
Garnish with finely chopped spring onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
Serve hot and enjoy the flavors of spring with each bite!
- For an even more intense flavor, marinate the chicken in half the glaze for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
- If cherry blossom jam is not available, a mix of cherry jam and a drop of almond extract can be a good substitute.
- Keep an eye on the chicken while it simmers to avoid overcooking. Chicken breasts are lean and can dry out if cooked too long.
